The Holy Virgin Mary, Mother of Mercy This is the photo of the original Image imprinted on Juan Diego's tilma on 12 December 1531. I took this photo in July 2010 at the Basilica de Santa Maria de Guadalupe when my husband and I visited her - unfortunately, my camera didn't take great shots of Our Lady. If you look at the top of this photo, you'll see that Our Lady's Image sits behind a protective glass which darkens the original tilma Image. Our Lady's miraculous apparitions started on the 9th of December till the 12th. She is enshrined at the Basilica in Mexico City she where waits for you and everyone to visit her. Countless miracles are attributed to this Sacred Image which is the only Image of our Blessed Virgin Mother miraculously imprinted on man-made material by the grace of God. During her apparitions, she said on separate instances: "Here I shall show, manifest, and give all my love, my compassion, my help, and my protection to mankind. I am truly your compassionate mother; yours and all those who live united in this land; and of all the other peoples who are my loving ones, who cry to me, who seek me, and who trust in me. Here I shall listen to their weeping and sadness in order to remedy and alleviate their many sorrows, needs and miseries." "Am I not here, your Mother? Are you not under my protection?" Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mother of Mercy, pray for us. To appreciate this miracle and the message Our Lady's Sacred Image brings, you must read A Handbook on Guadalupe. |
